So I want to apologize to all the people who expected this to be a discussion of the 80s movie Mannequin. Here's one more for your disappointment.
But last week I've had the strangest dream and could not get it out of my head.
Enough dreaming. Hears my story named: Mannequin X
So I’m with a few friends around and we all choose to see a friend's small building he just bought. On the inside the place looks like an empty restaurant or maybe an old video rental place. The large windows give it away as a bit strange.
As we’re looking around in there we notice a strange guy outside. He might be homeless or just strange. Not in ragged clothes or dirty, just weird making faces at us through the glass. One of us invited the guy inside. We are all uncomfortable but just roll with it. The guy has his hands around his waistband and one of the guys calls him up on that. Eventually he starts grabbing on the girl with us. We defend her honor and boot him out.
Sometime later the crew all get together at another building a friend owns. The place looks like a cheap motel but at least 10 stories tall. The first two floors had windows and above it didn’t have any windows. All brick like a prison.
Inside we go up the next floor and climb a ladder around 3 stories tall. Up top the place was odd and felt like a century old. Hotel bellboys crowed the floors in their neat little uniforms. None looked up as the crew passed by. We discover the place is a hotel for the rich. The place even had a basketball court and football field.
Later we are walking in an unoccupied area of the hotel and the host/guy who invited us there mentions something along the lines of a stalker. He asks the girl if she knows the term Mannequin X. Nobody knows the term. The girl then sees a picture on the ground of herself. Beside it she finds a sawzall blade and threatens him if he gets any closer. She then leaves and his facade drops. He offers us if we want a job and we accept.
As we get into work we are coached and trained by some of the staff. For whatever reason the story is told in mockumentary style like the office. One of our tour guides is uber positive and vibrant. She tells a story on camera about the events held here. One being about a football game between the Green Bay Packers vs Nebraska Cornhuskers. It was the very last time a college team played a pro team. Green Bay one 64 to 0. Her next story was of the Kennedy’s.
“We had some issues with the Kennedy’s, but we took care of them.” Her voice dark and serious. “With pounds of cookies,” she raised a plate of cookies from off screen with a sinister smile.
